Emily Nelson, RallyUp Pickleball coach

Emily Nelson

Your coach for the day

Hi, I'm your coach — Emily Nelson.

I teach new players for a living. Not tournament pros, not people who already know what a third shot drop is. People who picked up a paddle recently, love it, and feel a little lost the moment they walk onto a real court.

Most of the players I coach are 50 and over, and a lot of them show up nervous. By the end of the day they're playing real points and laughing about it. That never gets old for me.

How I coach

  1. 1

I watch you first, then I teach. Everyone comes in with one or two things holding them back. I find yours instead of running a generic script that fixes no one in particular.

  2. 2

I fix one thing at a time. New players get overwhelmed when a coach lists ten corrections. I give you the single change that matters most right now, then the next one, then the next.

  3. 3

I keep it easy on the body. The drills are built so you leave tired in a good way, not sore. I want you still playing this game ten years from now.

Show up new to this, and here's what actually happens:

  • Your serve starts landing in, over and over.
  • The soft game — the dinks everyone talks about — finally makes sense.
  • You stop reaching for balls you shouldn't, and start moving your feet instead.
  • You leave with a few new friends and a plan for what to work on next.

What your $199 seat covers.

  • 4 hours of coaching with a world-class certified coach
  • Your personalised performance plan, emailed after camp
  • Lifetime access to our players community
  • Courts, balls and paddles all provided
  • A few more surprises waiting for you after camp day

...and so much more that will be revealed once you register

It was never about the paddle.

A camp group together on court

The paddle is just the excuse. What actually changes is that you stop saying maybe next time when someone asks you to play, and you walk onto a court full of strangers knowing you belong there.

You spend the day with seven people in exactly your spot, learning the same things at the same speed. Nobody is waiting on you, nobody is showing off. By the afternoon you're laughing between points with people whose names you didn't know at 9am.

Most groups swap numbers before they leave, and the chat keeps going long after camp day. That's how one Sunday turns into a standing thing you look forward to all week.

All of it starts on one Sunday

A quick gut check

Is this camp for you?

It’s for you if…

  • You picked up a paddle recently and love it, but real games still feel shaky
  • You're 40, 50, 60, 70. Most of our players are
  • You want a coach watching your game, not a lecture with a paddle in your hand
  • You'd rather learn with 7 other beginners than sink-or-swim at open play

It’s not for you if…

  • You're a 4.0 with tournament weekends booked
  • You want 20 straight games and zero coaching
  • You're looking for a kids' program

FAQs

Is this really just women?
Yes. Every player on court is a woman, and so is your coach. A lot of people who want to start this game don't want their first attempt watched by strangers, and this is the version of the camp that removes that.
I have genuinely never played. Is that a problem?
That's who the day is built for. No rating, no experience, and no assumption you know the rules. Everyone there is starting in the same place, which is the whole point of running it this way.
Isn't October still hot in Arizona?
That's why it runs 8:30 to 12:30. You're on court in the cool part of the morning and finished before the afternoon. Bring a hat, sunscreen and water and you'll be comfortable.

Sunday is four hours. The game is yours for years.
