Hey, I’m your coach: Sarah Layton.

15+ yrsA Teaching Professional
4.5Rated Player

Before I was a physical therapist I spent over fifteen years as a teaching professional, in tennis and in platform tennis. Teaching a racket sport to someone who has never held the racket is not a side skill for me. It is the job I did full time, for years, before pickleball existed as a thing people drove across town for.

These days I am a sports and orthopedic physical therapist, which changes how I watch you play. Most people being taught a new sport are fighting their own body without realising it, and I can usually see which part before you feel it.

I teach a lot of pickleball in Naples: intensive camps like this one, private lessons, and team practices. I also still compete. Gold at the Minto US Open and gold at the USAPA Great Lakes Regional, and I am rated 4.5. I mention it so you know the person correcting your serve can still hit one when it counts.

On Saturday, October 17 there are eight of you and one of me for four hours at Sports Challenge America. Eight is small enough that I watch every single person play, more than once, and tell you what is actually costing you points.

She clearly identified my strengths and weaknesses and gave me a practical roadmap for improvement. Now I have a clear plan and can practice with purpose.

Pete is an excellent pickleball instructor. He's patient, positive, and made me feel confident as an older beginner.

What actually makes this work.

Someone finally watches you

One coach, 8 players. You get told what you’re doing wrong, out loud, in the first half hour.

Drilling at match pace

Not standing in a line waiting for a turn. You hit the same shot until it holds up under pressure.

Everyone is on your wall

Beginner · no rating required only. No one to hide behind, nobody to carry. Every rep is at your level.

You leave with people to play

Players your standard, in your area, who all just spent a Saturday doing the same thing.

Let’s deal with the buts.

"$249 is a lot for one day"
It’s one day. Four hours of coaching at private-lesson rates is $480 on its own. Split across a year of play that’s about $4 a week, and the alternative is another year of paying nothing and staying where you are.
"I could just take a private lesson"
You could, and you’d get about two hours for the same money, with nobody at your level to drill live points against.
"I’m not sure I’m good enough"
If you rally consistently, serve in, and play doubles socially, you’re in the band. Everyone in the room is on the same wall. Call us and we’ll tell you straight.
"What if it’s too basic for me?"
Beginner · no rating required only, and we sort by level in the first 15 minutes. Nobody spends the day on drills they’ve outgrown.
"What if something comes up?"
Your seat moves to any future camp. Just email us.
"I’d rather just play more"
That’s what the last year was. Rec games reward the habits that are capping you, which is why more of them makes the ceiling harder, not softer.

The practical stuff.

Where exactly?
Sports Challenge America, 28120 Race Track Rd, Bonita Springs, FL 34135 · 12 outdoor courts
What do I bring?
Court shoes and water. Paddles and balls provided if you don’t have your own.
What if it rains?
We'll be in touch with you directly if the weather turns.
Can I come with a friend?
Yes. Give us a call and we’ll sort you both out.
Isn't it still hot in Florida in October?
October mornings are the best of the year here, and the camp runs 8:30 to 12:30 so you are on court early and done before the afternoon. Bring a hat and water and you will be comfortable.
I'm in Naples or Fort Myers. How far is this?
Bonita Springs sits between the two, about 20 to 25 minutes from either. Sports Challenge America is on Race Track Road with parking right by the courts, so there is no long walk in with your gear.

Not in Bonita Springs?
